Ribbon Cutting Ceremony For The Highway 49-Plymouth Roundabout

Caltrans, the City of Plymouth and the Amador County Transportation Council will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Highway 49 roundabout this coming Tuesday at 10:30.   The $5.8 million project constructed the first roundabout on a state highway in Caltrans’ District 10 at the intersection where State Route 49 meets Main Street and Shenandoah Road in the city of Plymouth.  The roundabout was constructed to created a more efficient flow of traffic through this interchange, benefitting businesses in the city and in the surrounding countryside.  The project reduces noise and air pollution, allowing vehicles to flow through the roundabout, rather than idle at a stop sign and enables larger trucks to make deliveries and haul out goods. Speakers for the event will include Amador County District 5 Supervisor Brian Oneto; Plymouth Mayor Jon Colburn; Amador County Transportation Commission Executive Director John Gedney and CHP Lieutenant Todd Brown.
