High Winds Jackknife Big Rig On "Hurricane Hill" Thursday Morning

High winds on Highway 88 between Ione and Jackson, in the area commonly referred to as “Hurricane Hill”, were the cause of an incident involving a big rig. According to reports, around 10:45 Thursday morning, a semi truck headed west on Highway 88 was blown partially off the road in a jackknife position due to high winds. The westbound lane had to be closed while authorities dealt with the issue. Local law enforcement and Cal Trans remind everyone that slippery roads and high winds can make travel difficult.
