Delays With Construction Projects Top Concern Of Amador School Board

Delays with construction projects were the top concern at Wednesday's night meeting of the Amador School Board.  The School District's contractor for the energy efficiency project came into harsh criticism from Board members, in particular Bob Laurents due to delays with the project.  A combination of construction issues, such as trouble drilling bore holes in the rocky ground at Amador High School and delays working with PG&E have delayed putting newly build solar panels online by several months.  The delay means the School District can't realize the cost savings that were planned, and the Board has already had to adjust its budget for the year.    Also delayed has been the installation of a new track at Argonaut High School.   A combination of delays with the contractor and problems with the funding source the District had planned to pay for the project with, means the new track will not be built for this year's track season.  With a revised version of the project approved by the Board Wednesday, construction is now expected to start as soon as next week.  If that is the case, the pavement track base will laid down by the time of Argonaut’s graduation, and the rubber running service would be complete in late June.
