Ione Sands Motorsport Park Seeks Use Permit

The Ione Sands Motosport Park, located south of Howard Park on Highway 124, will go before the Amador County Technical Advisory Committee later this week, seeking a use permit.  U. S. Mine Corporation, the property owner, is requesting a General Plan amendment and a request for a Use Permit to allow the operation of the private motor cross facility.  The facility would be open daily to members for practice and training, and for product testing and development and could host race events.  Located off Highway 124, approximately one mile north of Highway 88 and ¼ mile south of the Ione City limits, maximum daily attendance is projected to be 50 participants.  Following a review by County staff, the application will go before the County Planning Commission, and then the Board of Supervisors for public hearings and approval.  The County could deny the application, or impose conditions of approval such as restriction on hours of operation.  The motor-cross track was slapped with a Notice of Violation and ordered by the County to cease operation back in December of 2017, after several noise complaints were filed with the Ione Police and County officials.
