New Details Released In Connection To The Armed Robbery Near Murphys

New information has been released in connection to the armed robbery in the Murphys area.  According to the Calaveras Sheriff’s Office around 4:00pm Sunday, a group of suspects arrived at a location in the 4000 block of French Gulch Road near Murphys for a previously arranged illegal marijuana transaction. The suspects were reportedly supposed to purchase a large amount of marijuana. Incidentally the location where the transaction was to take place was a previously registered commercial medical marijuana cultivation site, which in September 2016, Sheriff’s officials had recommended denial of registration due to failure to disclose an arrest or conviction. The site was denied registration in March of 2018. Upon their arrival at the location, multiple suspects brandished firearms, made threats, and tied up victims. Several victims were beaten and it was reported that the suspects were trying to get information to lead them to additional marijuana sites, more marijuana, or money. Suspects stole personal items from victims as well as marijuana, cash, and one of the victim’s vehicles. The suspects then reportedly left driving a black SUV, Uhaul truck, black Range Rover, and a victim’s white van.  A Calaveras County Sheriff’s deputy patrolling the area located a group of vehicles matching the description travelling westbound on Highway 12 just outside of Valley Springs. After attempting to initiate a traffic stop on the suspected black range rover, the vehicle took off and a pursuit began, with the CHP joining shortly thereafter. The pursuit travelled westbound on Highway 12 near Double Springs Rd. During the pursuit, for unknown reasons, one occupant exited the vehicle while it was still travelling at a high rate of speed and was killed instantly. The vehicle continued off of Highway 12 where it collided with some small trees and a fence. Two additional male subjects took off running from the vehicle after it stopped and where later apprehended and subsequently arrested. Evidence of the robbery was located near the deceased subject’s body. Meanwhile, additional sheriff’s deputies responding to the scene located the white van that was taken from one of the robbery victims. Deputies stopped the white van and arrested two additional male subjects. A large amount of evidence was located in the van tying the suspects to the robbery. Deputies arrested, Mark Noble (age 32 from Lincolnwood, Illinois) Dontia Arrington (age 38 of Spokie, Illinois)

Talia Khio (age 41 of Roseville, California)
Roddy Johnson (age 29 of San Diego, California)

Two other vehicles are outstanding. The suspects were booked on multiple charges of armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robberies, assault with a deadly weapon, felony battery with great bodily injury, kidnapping, false imprisonment and torture. Due to the death of one of the subjects, the sheriff’s office will be reviewing potential homicide charges with the district attorney’s office. This case is still active. Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office at (209) 754-6500 or their anonymous tip line (209) 754-6030.
