Grocery Outlets Independence From Hunger 2018 Is Underway!

Grocery Outlets Independence from Hunger 2018 is underway and they’re asking for your help in fighting food insecurity and hunger in our community. Yesterday, Grocery Outlet launched its 8th Annual Independence from Hunger National Food Drive Campaign. The campaign collects food and cash donations in-store at all Grocery Outlet locations throughout the end of July that will be distributed directly to local food banks across the country, Interfaith Food Bank in Amador County. The need is strong nationally and locally. The most recent USDA data reports that over 41.2 million people live in food insecure households, including 12.9 million children. 1 in 6 Americans experience food insecurity. According to the interfaith food banks hunger facts, in 2016 the Interfaith Food Bank served 2,301 Amador County families. 16% of the population in Amador County received food from the Interfaith Food Bank.  Grocery Outlet has made it very easy to donate.

You can help by:

·         Taking part in the “give 5, get 5”.

·         Donate $5 or more in a single transaction, in-store or online, and receive a coupon for $5 off a future purchase of $25 or more.

·         Pick up a pre made bag that is filled with groceries identified as items of need.

·         Tell your cashier you would like to make a cash donation at the register. Donations of any size are greatly appreciated and will go directly to the interfaith food bank to fight food insecurity here at home, Amador County.
