The Waverly Fire Which Burned Through Three Counties Reaches Full Containment!

CAL FIRE reports that firefighters from multiple agencies worked throughout the weekend battling the Waverly Fire, which was first reported Friday, June 29th at approximately 5:15 PM at North Waverly Road and North Shelton Road, just east of Linden. The fire quickly spread from Stanislaus County to San Joaquin County and into Calaveras County, where the bulk of acreage was burned. Road closures were in effect for Milton Road, Rock Creek Road and Salt Spring Valley Road. Evacuations were in place for residents along those roads as well as the town of Milton in Calaveras County. The fire grew extremely quickly in size, total acreage burned was 11,789 acres, and was 100 percent contained early this morning (Monday, July 2nd). There were no injuries reported or structures damaged. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
