Additional Fire Restrictions To Go Into Effect On The El Dorado National Forest

Due to extremely dry vegetation and very high fire danger, additional fire restrictions will go into effect on the El Dorado National Forest that will prohibit recreational target shooting beginning this Sunday the 9th, and will be in effect through Oct. 9th but could be extended if necessary. Hunting with a valid state of California hunting license during hunting season is exempt from this restriction. Any federal, state or local officer or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force in the performance of an official duty is also exempt. Target shooting fires can be caused by sparks when bullets hit rocks or by hot metal fragments that land in dry vegetation. All other previously announced fire restrictions on the El Dorado National Forest are also still in effect.
