Fatal Three-Vehicle Collision Leaves One Dead and One with Minor Injuries
A Sutter Creek woman was pronounced dead at the scene of a three vehicle collision this morning. According to CHP, at approximately 8:00, Alexandria Lane of Valley Springs was stopped on northbound Upper Jackson Valley Rd. at the intersection of Highway 88. A 61-year-old woman of Sutter Creek (name undisclosed) was traveling westbound on 88 approaching highway 104 at approximately 55 mph at the same time Sal Artamirano of Stockton was traveling eastbound on 88 approaching 104 at approximately 55 mph. Lane believed that the intersection was clear and drove her vehicle across the eastbound lane of 88 in an attempt to make it onto 104. As Lane traveled into the westbound lane of 88, the front of her vehicle struck the left-rear side of the Sutter Creek woman’s vehicle causing it to spin out of control and travel into the eastbound lane of 88 backwards. Altamirano observed the vehicle ahead of him, applied the brakes, and turned to the right in an attempt to avoid collision. The front of Altamirano’s vehicle struck the rear of the oncoming vehicle causing the woman to be ejected. She was pronounced dead at the scene while Altamirano suffered minor injuries and was taken to Sutter Amador hospital. There were no arrests at the scene. Alcohol and/or drugs are not considered a factor in this collision.
