Solo-Vehicle Accident Leads to Fatality of Lodi Man

A Lodi man lost his life last Friday evening (Nov. 2nd) in a solo-vehicle accident along Highway 12 east of Wards Avenue.  According to CHP, the Lodi man was driving westbound on 12 east of Wards Avenue.  For an unknown reason, he allowed his 2010 Freightliner to drive onto the right hand shoulder.  The man turned to the left and lost control of the vehicle.  The vehicle continued sliding straight for several hundred feet and then overturned onto the passenger side.  The Freightliner continued on its passenger side, westbound and collided with a 6" asphalt curb.  The vehicle went through the curb and down a dirt embankment, colliding with the ground at the bottom of the embankment.  During the collision, the Lodi man was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries.  The man was not wearing his seatbelt during the collision and on scene investigators felt confident that the Lodi man would have sustained minor or no injuries had he been wearing his seatbelt.  Alcohol and/or drug use is not suspected at this time.  No further details are available at this time and the Lodi man’s identity will be released after the family has been notified.
