Work Crews Strike Gas Line In Plymouth Resulting In Small Explosion

Work crews digging in a front yard of a Plymouth home, struck a gas line, resulting in a small explosion and one person treated for burns. According to the Amador Fire Protection District, about 9:15 Thursday morning, Amador Fire responded to a gas line explosion on Wheeler Loop in Plymouth. The explosion was initiated by crews digging and severing an underground gas line. One person sustained burn injuries and was transported to a burn center in Sacramento. The fire was contained to the yard of the home and no other homes were damaged or injuries reported. The incident did require the shutdown of about 80 residences for electrical and gas services in the Plymouth Mobile Home Park, Victorian Village, and Wheeler areas of the city. Electric services were restored about noon, with gas service restored later in the afternoon.
