DUI Collision Takes The Life Of A Valley Springs Woman

A Valley Springs woman lost her life and two Calaveras County men were arrested for DUI following a three vehicle accident Sunday night just before 8:30. According to the San Andreas CHP office, Donald Jackson of Wallace and Dusty Jackson of Valley Springs were driving their vehicles northbound on Pettinger Road north of Messing Road. Chelsea Lund was driving southbound on Pettinger Road approaching the two oncoming vehicles. Donald Jackson was illegally passing Dusty Jackson over double yellow lines directly into the path of Lunds vehicle. Due to his level of intoxication, Donald Jackson failed to safely pass and collided head-on with Lunds vehicle, then collided with Dusty Jackson’s vehicle. Lund was transported to Mark Twain Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased. Her passengers Dylan Burch of Lockford and 8 year old Kaiden Lund also of Valley Springs were transported by life flight to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment of moderate to major injuries. Further investigation at the scene resulted in Donald Jackson and Dusty Jackson both being arrested for felony driving under the influence. Donald Jackson was additionally charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. Alcohol was a primary factor in this collision. This collision is still under investigation.
