Sutter Creek Holds Workshop To Update The City’s General Plan

The Sutter Creek City Council held a workshop last night to take a detailed look at the draft update of the city’s general plan. A city’s general plan lays out policies on a wide range of topics including; public safety and other services, housing and development, the environment and open space. Sutter Creek’s general plan was last updated in 1994. The current update process was delayed by lawsuits over the Gold rush Ranch development. At last night’s workshop, both council members and the public systematically moved through the document section-by-section, debating details both large and small. Coming in for particular attention were the section on land use and development, as the workshop debated how far the city’s restriction on hillside development and what development standards to use for grading and other practices. The council directed that development standards first development for Gold Rush would be enforced city-wide as an interim measure before new ones are developed for the city. The council will continue its workshop at its next regular meeting on February 5th.
