Hazardous Winter Driving Conditions Expected This Weekend

Hazardous winter driving conditions are expected in the Sierra Nevada this weekend. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Sierra Nevada above 5,000 feet, from Friday afternoon through late Sunday night.  The snow levels will start around 6,000 to 7,000 feet on Friday and then drop down to 4,500 to 5,000 feet from Friday night into Saturday morning.  The total snow accumulation will range from one to four feet, above the 5,000 foot elevation.  There will be also be significant reductions in visibility as the snow combines with gusty winds.  Weekend travel through the mountains is encouraged before Friday afternoon if possible.  Damage to trees and power lines is also possible.  Please continue to monitor the latest forecasts and road conditions by visiting KVGCradio.com.
