One Man Hospitalized With Severe Injuries While Another Is Behind Bars

One man is hospitalized with severe injuries, while another is behind bars in the Amador County Jail today.   According to Amador Under-Sheriff Gary Redman, the Sheriff’s Office Dispatched received a call, yesterday around 1:30, regarding a physical altercation at a private residence in the Pine Grove area.  Redman said the caller indicated that a subject was destroying property belonging to his neighbor, Robert Oluf Swendsen Jr.  Upon arriving on scene, Amador County Deputies located a 42 year old, male victim outside his residence, seated near a greenhouse bleeding profusely from a head wound.  Investigating Deputies spoke with the caller, Swendsen who admitted to striking the victim several times in the head with an axe handle after being pushed.

Deputies observed blood spatter on the side of the greenhouse and located a weapon consistent with the one described by Swendson, which was also covered in blood.  Deputies found no indication the victim had damaged any property.  Swendsen was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and was booked into the Amador County Jail without incident.  The victim’s was transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center for specialized treatment.  Authorities hope to obtain more information once the victim regains consciousness.
