45th Annual Capitol Frog Jump

Senator Andreas Borgeas and Assemblyman Frank Bigelow hosted the 45th annual Capitol Frog Jump yesterday. Held on the East Lawn of the State Capitol, the jump was held to promote the 91st anniversary of the Jumping Frog Jubilee at the Calaveras County Fair. Legislators, staffers and members of the media competed to see whose frog would make the longest and shortest leap. First place was award went to Florencio Vaca, a legislative staffer from assembly member Luz Rivas’ office, His frog “Rana del Rey”, jumped 12 feet and 1 inch. Joe Michaels from KFBK and his frog “Christopher Ribbit”, won the media competition, with an 8 foot and 9 inch leap. The shortest jump went to assembly member Jim Wood his frog managed a meager 3 feet and five inch jump. The Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee kicks off next Thursday, May 16 and runs through Sunday the 19th.
