Amador High Gun Arrest

Amador High Gun Arrest

A 15 year old Amador High School student is in custody today, after alleging bringing a firearm to school.  According to the Sutter Creek police, last night around 8:45 they received information that a student may have brought a loaded handgun to the Amador High campus and on the school bus earlier in the day.  Through witness interviews, and the assistance of the school’s administrative leadership team, a suspect was identified.   Sutter Creek PD and Deputies from the Amador County Sheriff’s Office responded to the home of the student, located in unincorporated Amador County.  The officers made contact with the student and his family, and ultimately recovered a loaded .45 caliber handgun.  The gun did not belong to family members.  The student was taken into custody for charges related to the possession of the firearm, and possession of the firearm on school grounds.   He was transferred into the custody of Amador County Juvenile Probation.   According to authorities, at this time there is no indication that the student made any threats toward staff, students or anyone else.  The investigation into this matter, and how the student came to be in possession of the firearm, is ongoing. Anyone with information about this case can call the Sutter Creek Police Department at 267-5646.
