Neither rain, wind nor hail could dampen the spirits of Calaveras County fairgoers! According to Laurie Giannini, Fair CEO, preliminary figures show attendance was down due to the weather.  But despite the conditions, close to 20,000 people passed thru the gates at the fairgrounds.   Giannini says she is proud of the fair staff, volunteers, partners and board for coming together and pulling off impressive results, despite the challenging weather conditions.   Another bright spot  was this year’s Junior Livestock auction.  The auction brought in $620,000, an increase of $10,000 and the Replacement Heifer and Ag Mechanic sales were also up.  Summing up the 4-day run Giannini said, despite the challenging weather conditions, not a single event was cancelled.
