Plane Hits Power Lines Sunday And Crashed Into Lake Tulloch

A search was underway yesterday after a plane hit power lines and crashed into Lake Tulloch in Calaveras County. An eyewitness told authorities that the plane hit the power lines at about 11:45 A.M. and went into the lake nose first near the Poker Flat areas and sank, said the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office. According to PG&E, the collision caused their lines to tangle but did not bring down power lines or other PG&E equipment. 1,700 customers lost power as a result of the collision. PG&E had reduced the outage to 775 customers when we spoke to the utility around 3PM and expected to have all customers restored by 7PM. The pilot was the only person aboard the plane when it went down, the sheriff’s office said. No information was immediately available about the type of plane or the pilot.
