Fire Training Burns This Week

The Amador-El Dorado Unit of Cal Fire will be conducting a prescribed, live fire training burns later this week.  While the burns will be in El Dorado County, smoke will be visible in Amador County.  On Thursday and Friday, approximately 135 acres will be burned off in the community of Pilot Hill, along the North-East side of Hwy 49 and South of Meadowview Acres and on Saturday, approximately 45 acres near the community of Garden Valley.  The purpose of these burns is to allow local firefighters to train together in a controlled fire environment for preparation of the upcoming fire season while reducing the spread of noxious weeds, non-native grasses and other fuels

For more information on Cal Fire’s vegetation management program, visit the webpage at  This week’s burns will be dependent upon any restrictions set forth by El Dorado County Air Quality Management District and favorable weather conditions.
