More Marijuana Enforcement Activity

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Unit was busy this week.  On Tuesday, they served a search warrant onto property located off of Star Canyon Trail near Mountain Ranch.   Deputies discovered and eradicated 3252 marijuana plants and also seized 38 pounds of processed marijuana.  Marijuana was found planted near an established vineyard.  No arrests were made at the time of the warrant, however, an extensive investigation is continuing.    Then on Wednesday, a second and unrelated warrant was served at a residence located off Tree Lane in West Point.  Deputies initially detained Jianrong Huang of West Point, as he attempted to flee from the scene.
The investigation revealed that the residence had been entirely converted into a marijuana growing facility.  899 marijuana plants and approximately 5 pounds of processed marijuana were seized along with one handgun.   The residence was also red tagged by Calaveras County Code Compliance due to unsafe conditions.  Huang was arrested and booked into the Calaveras County Jail on charges which include: Criminal Conspiracy, Possession of marijuana for sale, Illegal cultivation of marijuana and maintaining a place for unlawfully selling, giving away, or using controlled substances.
