SB-1 Survey Underway In Calaveras County

SB-1 Survey Underway In Calaveras County

A survey is underway in Calaveras County, to determine how future SB-1 monies should be spent. A two-person field crew is in the midst of surveying all the roads in the county, to determine their condition. The effort is the first step in determining how to spend the additional money from the increase in the state’s gas tax. Over the next 10 years, the county will receive about $2.5 million from the tax. The money must be used for maintenance and rehabilitation projects. According to a news release issued form the Calaveras County Council of Governments, “To ensure that Calaveras County residents get the most cost effective maintenance plan from these additional revenues, the county is working to implement a pavement management plan.” The Calaveras Council of Governments, the lead agency in the project, selected Nichols Consulting Engineers of Reno to conduct the study and design a pavement management plan. The field study should take five weeks.
