High Speed Chase And Crash Leads To Arrest In Valley Springs

A Valley Springs man is facing multiple felony charges following a high-speed chase and crash in the La Contenta area. According to the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office, deputies on Monday afternoon around 4:30 attempted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle traveling at ahigh rate of speed on Hogan Dam Road near Highway 26 in Valley Springs. The suspect vehicle fled doing about 70 miles-per-hour, and while crossing over double-yellow lines multiple times, nearly hitting another vehicle and collided with a telephone pole near Vista Del Lago Dr. The driver, 34-year-old David Sayle of Valley Springs, was searched and deputies uncovered 1.5 grams of meth and drug paraphernalia among other evidence. He was subsequently arrested for multiple felonies, including evading arrest with a disregard for public safety, transportation of a controlled substance, including for sale, possession of paraphernalia, and misdemeanor hit-and-run. Sayle’s bail was set at $105,000.
