Pardee Search May Be Over

The search may be over for a man believed to have drowned in Pardee Reservoir earlier this month.   According to Amador Under-Sheriff Gary Redman, Saturday morning a fisherman spotted a body in the water near the reported drowning site.  The Sheriff’s office Marine unit responded and recovered the body of an unidentified male.  While the Sheriff’s office waits for a positive identification, the name of the missing man has not officially released to the public.  The family of the missing fisherman has been notified that a body was recovered.  Officials say from evidence obtained at the scene, it appears the man fell from the boat and the incident was an accident.   Back on the 13th of this month, Sheriff’s dispatch received a report of a male in the water at Pardee, just before 9 p.m. The reporting party said they saw the man in the water struggling to stay afloat approximately a half-mile from the boat ramp.  Before any witnesses could get to the man, he reportedly went under and did not resurface.   Members of the Amador County Marine Unit and Dive Team along with equipment from the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office searched for the man in 80-90 foot depths.
