Couple Rescued From Mokelumne River Tuesday Night

Couple Rescued From Mokelumne River Tuesday Night

Amador and Calaveras County emergency crews responded to the report of a swimmer requiring a water rescue in the Mokelumne River off of Electra Road Tuesday.  The swimmers were stuck on the Calaveras side of the River about a quarter mile from the Electra powerhouse.  First responders were able to assist the male and female from the river without incident.   Responders included: Calaveras Sheriff's Office, Amador County Sheriff's Office, Jackson Fire Department, Amador Fire Protection District, and CAL FIRE.  Authorities say this is a good reminder that water levels fluctuate, are swift moving, and the temperatures are cold.  Always use a flotation device and use extreme caution.
