AWA Talks Energy Savings

AWA Talks Energy Savings

How to maximize energy usage and reduce harassment and discrimination topped the latest meeting of the Amador Water Agency.   The AWA Board of Directors has approved moving forward with an agreement with the Sierra Business Council to prepare an energy action plan for the Agency.  The non-profit SBC has performed similar services for cities in Amador County and is now extending the service to special districts.   According to a presentation at the AWA meeting, the energy action plan will identify where the agency uses the most energy and will formulate strategies to increase efficiencies and save the agency money.  The AWA has already invested in some micro-hydro projects that generate electricity from the flow of water it delivers. In another business, the Board of Directors reviewed the Agency’s employee handbook, specifically the section that prohibits harassment and discrimination.   The AWA was criticized in the 2018-2019 Amador County Civil Grand Jury Report for having a hostile work environment and allowing incidents of harassment to go unpunished.
