Cal Fire Issues Warning As Amador Crews Battle Fires 

With a warning from Cal Fire that the last two months have been the most devastating and deadly in recent years, Amador crews battled two vegetation fires over the weekend.  The first was reported just before 2 on Saturday afternoon along Highway 88 in Amador County.   When crews arrived, they discovered the fire was actually in two locations along the roadway.  Both fires burned along the south side of Highway 88 by the sunset view cemetery.  One fire was contained at approximately 4 acres and the second was contained at 8 acres.  Then on Sunday afternoon, just after 3, another fire was reported along Latrobe road near Lorentz Road, burning on both sides of the road. Crews were able to get a wet line around one fire and a short time later with the assistance of air attack contained the other.  In total, the two Latrobe road fires burned 8 acres.  The cause of Saturday and Sunday’s fires are under investigation.
