Local Fire Crews Respond To Multiple Fires Last Weekend

Saturday afternoon, around 4:30, CAL FIRE fighters from CAL FIRE and the Jackson Fire Department were called to the intersection of Highway 88 and Wicklow Way for a small roadside fire. Crews were quickly able to contain the fire to a small spot of vegetation. The cause of the fire is being investigated.

Then just before 11:45 Sunday morning, a vegetation fore was reported off North Main Street in Jackson. Jackson City and local fire crews quickly arrived on scene to find the fire had started in the creek bed of the North Fork of Jackson Creek behind the Amador County Library. With an aggressive attack, crews were able to contain the fire and were also able to burn off the rest of the vegetation for a more clean burn. The fire was contained and controlled at just under an acre. The cause of the fire is under investigation and crews continue to monitor the scene throughout the evening.

On a side note; crews from the Pine Grove Camp have been working hard in the area for the city of Jackson to eliminate vegetation in the North Fork of Jackson Creek. Their hard work paid off Sunday as the area they cleared held the fire away from Detert Park and the Library.
