Fire Flow Woes For Fair

Fire Flow Woes For Fair

The Amador County Fair needs you!  Last year the California State Fire Marshal did an inspection of the fairgrounds, during construction of the new Simmons Beef Pavilion.  Water supply to the hydrants on the fairgrounds was found to be woefully inadequate at 300 gallons per minute.  1500 gallons per minute is the required fire flow required by the state.  There currently are no water lines on the grounds providing adequate fire flows. Upgrading the fairground’s water system and fire hydrants has taken on new urgency as the state has put limits on the use of the Fair’s facilities until the new fire line is in place,   a major undertaking for the property that no longer receives regular state funding.   While Fair Staff are encouraged by the prospects of a grant for the project, the Fair will have to come up with additional funds for administrative costs.  One way you can help the Fair achieve this goal is to attend the annual Fair Foundation, Love A Fair Ball, Saturday, February 8th at the Grand Oak Ballroom, Jackson Rancheria Casino Resort.  The dinner dance includes an elegant prime rib or rosemary chicken dinner, fabulous benefit auction, special Valentine favors and dancing -- all to support the Amador County Fair Foundation.  Tickets to the Love A Fair Ball are $100/person, on sale now through Jan. 27th,at and at the Fair Office, 245-6921.                                             Written by Jerry Guidi
