Hartmann And Jackson Honored

Hartmann And Jackson Honored

Amador County leaders Donna Jackson and Dr. Robert Hartmann have been named recipients of the 2020 Margaret Dalton Golden Nugget Award.  The Jackson Rancheria and the Amador County Chamber of Commerce established the award to honor local people who contribute their time and efforts to local causes with little fanfare or recognition.  Donna moved to Amador County 1987, working at El Dorado Savings and McClellan Insurance.  From there she began working at Sutter Amador Hospital, eventually leaving to work for Amador County with the Public Health, and now 17 years later she is a Health Educator with Public Health, working with children and families through programs like Baby Welcome Wagon and CalFresh Healthy Living.  Donna says her true love is her “S-Club kids”.  S-Club (a high school service club) is supported by Soroptimist International of Amador County, of which she is a proud member.  Dr Bob Hartmann and his wife, Mel Welsh moved to Amador County in 1988.  Working at Jackson Internal Medicine for 25 years, he also served as Amador Public Health Officer for 16 years.  Bob was Chief of Staff at Amador Hospital and served as Chair of the hospital Board of Directors.  He also served as a mentor for the UC-Davis rural PRIME training program and was a founding member of the Foothill Conservancy and the Mother Lode Land Trust.  An avid runner, Dr. Bob joined Mel in “retirement” this past summer.  However he still remains active by filling in at Internal Medicine and volunteering at UCD student run free clinics.   Jackson and Hartmann will be honored at a banquet to be held Friday, March 6th at the Jackson Rancheria Hotel’s Grand Oak Ballroom.  No-host cocktails at 6pm with dinner at 7pm.  Chamber members and members of the public can make reservations by calling the Chamber office at 223-0350.
